MY (FASCINATION WITH BIRTH) STORY

My journey as a birth service provider began five years ago as I was completing my 6 week OB clinical during nursing school. Unlike the other hospital rotations I was ecstatic to assist laboring moms first handedly and gain experience with delivery. I truly loved working 1:1 with moms and babies but the responsibility of executing medical interventions was a little bit overwhelming. As a care provider I desired undivided time with the laboring mothers, not spending my shift behind a computer screen with endless documentation or popping in and out of multiple birthing rooms. After nursing school I moved to Honolulu to pursue a position as a Geriatrics nurse. This opportunity allowed me to establish very close relationships with my patients and their loved ones as it was a very intimate work environment at a private carehome. I can't tell you  how rewarding and eye opening it was for me working with the elderly, it really put life into a new perspective. I had the honor caring for hospice patients, supporting their families, and holding a positive and nurturing space during their passing. Although I was very thankful to have my job as a Geriatrics nurse, my curiosity and desire to work as a birth advocate grew stronger and stronger. After completing my fourth year at the care home I resigned to pursue my career as a birth service provider and as well as my love of traveling. Although I am just starting my journey as a doula I feel I have a lot to offer my clients. As a doula it is so rewarding to establish supporting relationships with my clients and their loved ones during such an amazing time in their lives. I assure that I can provide a confident and nourishing presence to encourage your positive birth experience.
